“Dalí e la Moda”
PALAZZO REALE, MILANO, 24 SEPTEMBER 2026
Opening on 24 September at Milan’s Palazzo Reale, the exhibition ‘Dalí e la Moda’, curated by Judith Clark, offers a first look at Salvador Dalí’s deep connection with fashion. The exhibition explores the relationship between the Catalan artist and the world of fashion, revealing a lesser-known yet remarkably rich dimension of his creative practice. The exhibition displays more than 200 works and archival materials, including paintings, drawings, photographs, garments, films, jewellery, and objects.

Throughout Dalí’s work, rich symbolic imagery connected to fashion recurs; shoes, dresses, jackets, gloves, and jewellery become key elements of his Surrealist vocabulary. A pioneer in shaping new aesthetic codes, Dalí collaborated with fashion designers, photographers, and leading couture houses, redefining the boundaries between art and fashion while demonstrating an extraordinary ability to anticipate and harness the dynamics of this ever-evolving world. The exhibition spans painting, sculpture, and design, moving from the mannequin to the body to reveal Dalí’s profound influence on the fashion imagination. It documents the artist’s constant drive for innovation and creative freedom, highlighting the visionary spirit that shaped his entire artistic career.

“A mannequin should never compete with the garment; it must allow it to tell its own story. This principle has always guided our work.”
Andrea Bonaveri

The garments are displayed on 12 Schläppi mannequins and 27 Sartorial bust forms by Bonaveri. The company brings its signature craftsmanship to the exhibition design, offering a tailored selection of male and female figures upholstered in natural linen and featuring articulated wooden arms, chosen to complement each piece on display and enhance its form and detail. Minimalist in shape and rich in texture through the combination of linen and wood, the mannequins and busts lend the garments an authentic yet discreet presence, the result of over seventy years of artisanal expertise dedicated to placing form at the service of fashion.
