When a mannequin becomes sculpture, it presents the story of fashion through universal language; creating the supportive narrative for the garments and the stories they reveal.

Rome, November 2024 | Bonaveri, a global leader in the production of high-quality mannequins, is participating in the exhibition Memorabile. Ipermoda, hosted at the MAXXI in Rome from November 27, 2024, to March 23, 2025. The exhibition, curated by Maria Luisa Frisa and organised in collaboration with the Italian National Chamber of Fashion, explores the narrative power of fashion, examining its multifaceted connections with contemporaneity, sustainability, and memory.

In this exhibition, which also delves into the creative relationship with time and archives, Memorabile evokes the emotional impact of transforming artifacts into architectures closely tied to the human body. It serves as a bridge between aesthetics, functionality, and meaning.

The title Memorabile. Ipermoda itself reflects the project’s and the curatorial gesture’s capacity to “make history” and render memorable the ways in which fashion and its forms represent the present moment.

Set in the evocative Gallery 5 of the MAXXI, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey through haute couture, independent design and art, addressing social, political, and economic themes through garments, accessories, magazines, and videos. To spotlight the creations of renowned fashion houses such as Armani Privé, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Bulgari, Dolce & Gabbana, and Prada, 55 Bonaveri mannequins from the Sartorial and Atelier collections have been chosen.

When the mannequin becomes a sculpture, it transcends its practical function to take on a poetic presence, amplifying the message embedded in each garment. Like a silent interpreter capable of breathing life into extraordinary forms, each Bonaveri creation transforms fashion into a universal narrative that traverses time and space.
In this metamorphosis, the mannequin becomes art: its stylized body turns into a sculpture that embodies the essence of contemporaneity, rich with beauty, functionality, and environmental responsibility, making it a symbol of change within the fashion world.

The Sartorial collection, with its harmonious figures, is crafted with linen fabrics that enhance the silhouettes of the garments on display. Articulated arms finished in raw wood lend an authentic artisanal touch, echoing the excellence of Italian tailoring workshops. The Atelier busts symbolize Bonaveri’s versatility, blending tradition and modernity to create display solutions that resonate with contemporary languages.

Through meticulous attention to detail and artisanal quality, the 55 Bonaveri mannequins continue to represent a dimension of craftsmanship in which fashion interprets and elevates the ideas of designers, offering an unparalleled and authentic frame for their creative visions.

The curatorial project unfolds through thematic sequences that celebrate fashion as an expression of beauty while simultaneously highlighting the challenges of our time, such as sustainability. Sustainability thus becomes an integral part of the dialogue between fashion, design, and art, within an exhibition that aims to explore the future of the sector. Each garment and accessory on display bears witness to the past while offering a vision of the future, standing as an independent work in conversation with the others in the exhibition.
