The new windows feature ‘tanned’ Aloof mannequins in ‘beach-ready’ mode, kitted out with swimwear, goggles and flippers. Each of the seated mannequins sits aside a submerged gold anchor and continues a tradition of Aloof twins being used in large displays. Here, our Aloof twins are happily submerged in a deep blue nautical world perched above the seafloor, covered in coral and sea life.
la Rinascente opened its doors over 150 years ago and was recently voted ‘Best Department Store in the World’ by IGDS, the international association of department stores at their 2016 global summit in Zurich in May. They also received an award in the ‘Best Store Window’ category and so we’re delighted that they have chosen Aloof to continue with this outstanding quality of work.
Established by the Bocconi Brothers in Milan in 1865, the store was named “la Rinascente” by the poet Gabriele D’Annunzio in 1917. Over the years, it turned into the most elegant chain of department stores in Italy. Acquired by the Thai group Central Retail Corporation in 2011, it is now a collection of 12 stores situated in the heart of the most beautiful Italian cities along with the ILLUM store in Copenhagen.
