Dalone del Mobile | Eligo | Fashion Presentation | Milan Design Week | Vestae

Words by Ian Thompson | 15 April 2016

One of the highlights of Milan Design Week is VESTAE, a new exhibition featuring Bonaveri’s Schläppi 2200 mannequins in the environs of an elegantly designed display in central Milan.

The ‘Day Metropolitan Hotel’ otherwise known as the ‘Albergo diurno Venezia’ is home to this event, where Bonaveri has partnered with new Italian brand Eligo and students of the Creative Academy to showcase VESTAE – a new capsule collection of wellness products.

The original building, design by architect Piero Portaluppi in 1926, was meant as a facility for weary travellers. The sumptuous interior, recently restored, features original fittings used by barbers, hairdressers and manicurist of the day. The building fell into disrepair over the years but was recently renovated, preserving this remarkable window into early 20th-century life in Milan.

Using the space as a historical reference point, Eligo together with Alberto Nespoli and Domenico Rocca and the Creative Academy have continued the tradition of wellness in the modern age. Products are displayed using an intricate and delicate platform of bronze tables and accessories that give it a somewhat alchemist feeling. Bonaveri supplied mannequins from the Schläppi collection finished in matt black to reflect the detail of the surrounding interiors.

VESTAE is on until the 17th of April.
